Celebrating and conserving the ecological richness of California's grasslands

Please consider joining our Board of Directors

Dear CNGA Members,

The California Native Grasslands Association is seeking nominations for individuals to represent their community and fields of expertise on the Board of Directors.  Current board members will tell you that board service offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth and development. You will meet and collaborate with like-minded people from throughout the state who are working together to benefit a critical ecosystem.

Although some current board members will be running for these positions, it is your right to apply for the following positions:

  • President (1)
  • Vice-President (1)
  • Treasurer (1)
  • Secretary (1)
  • Board Member-at-Large

Experience with non-profit management, fundraising, business management, or expertise in the field of native plants and land management, including landscape architecture, ranching, farming, research and science would be a plus, but is not required.

Members-at-Large are elected for a 2-year term.  The Board of Directors meets quarterly, usually in the Sacramento/San Francisco Bay areas.  Every Director is also expected to participate in a committee such as Grasslands (CNGA journal), workshops, research and science, development, advocacy, etc.

The Board of Directors focuses on improving services and programs offered to our members, while trying to grow the organization and further its mission of promoting the understanding, conservation and management of California’s native grasses and grassland ecosystems.  Being on the Board can help you develop skills in non-profit governance, program planning, and strategic planning. Board membership will expand your network of professional contacts and can bring you more recognition from your employer, community, and peers.

Nominations are open each year until noon on Friday, November 8 (PST).

Please email a resume to admin@cnga.org if you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors.

Note that you do not need to be a Director to volunteer with CNGA.  Interested people can serve on committees, help lead a workshop or participate on a Task Force to complete projects or tasks on an as-needed basis. To volunteer, contact us at admin@cnga.org or call 530 902-6009.
