California's Native Grasslands

We Invite You to Apply for the CNGA Board of Directors

We are looking for individuals from all fields of interest who are dedicated to conserving and restoring California's grasslands. Read more about the rewards of being on the CNGA Board of Directors below.

On-Going Board Opportunities:

The California Native Grasslands Association is seeking nominations for individuals to represent their community and fields of expertise on the Board of Directors. Current board members will tell you that board service offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth and development. You will meet and collaborate with like-minded people from throughout the state who are working together to benefit our critical grassland ecosystems.

Although some current board members will be running for these positions, it is your right to apply for the following positions:

  • Board Member-at-Large (15)
  • Alternate Member-at-Large (2)
Experience with non-profit management, fundraising, business management, or expertise in the field of native plants and land management, including landscape architecture, ranching, farming, research and science would be a plus, but is not required. Students are welcome to apply!
  • Nominations: Open until noon on November 6 (PST).
  • Elections: December 1st to 20th
  • Board Service Begins: January 1

Directors-at-Large are elected for a 2-year term beginning on January 1. The Board of Directors meets quarterly, usually in the Sacramento/San Francisco Bay areas and through online meeting software. Every Director is also expected to participate in a committee. Current committees are:

  • Grasslands Editorial Committee
  • Workshop & Events Committee
  • GRASS Scholarship Committee
  • Conservation & Advocacy Committee
  • Outreach & Development Committee
  • Research, Science & Education Committee

More information on CNGA Committees.

The Board of Directors focuses on improving services and programs offered to our members, while trying to grow the organization. Being on the Board can help you develop skills in non-profit governance, program planning, and strategic planning. Board membership will expand your network of professional contacts and can bring you more recognition from your employer, community, and peers.

If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, please fill out the candidate application and email a resume or CV to admin@cnga.org.

Nominations are open until noon on Friday, November 6 (PST). Elections are opened for member online voting from December 1st to 20th.

Note that you do not need to be a Director to volunteer with CNGA.  Interested people can serve on committees, help lead a workshop, or participate on a Task Force to complete administrative tasks on an as-needed basis. To volunteer, contact us at admin@cnga.org.
