On-Going Board Opportunities: The California Native Grasslands Association is seeking nominations for individuals to represent their community and fields of expertise on the Board of Directors. Current board members will tell you that board service offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth and development. You will meet and collaborate with like-minded people from throughout the state who are working together to benefit a critical ecosystem.
Although some current board members will be running for these positions, it is your right to apply for the following positions:
- President (1)
- Vice-President (1)
- Treasurer (1)
- Secretary (1)
- Board Member-at-large
Experience with non-profit management, fundraising, business management, or expertise in the field of native plants and land management, including landscape architecture, ranching, farming, research and science would be a plus, but is not required.
Directors-at-Large are elected for a 2-year term beginning on January 1. The Board of Directors meets quarterly, usually in the Sacramento/San Francisco Bay areas, but now through online meeting software. Every Director is also expected to participate in a committee. Current committees are:
- Conservation Advocacy Committee
- Education & Information Committee
- Grasslands Quarterly Journal Editorial Committee
- Outreach & Development Committee
- Research & Science Committee
- Workshop Committee
- GRASS Scholarship Committee
The Board of Directors focuses on improving services and programs offered to our members, while trying to grow the organization. Being on the Board can help you develop skills in non-profit governance, program planning, and strategic planning. Board membership will expand your network of professional contacts and can bring you more recognition from your employer, community, and peers.
Nominations are open until noon on the first Friday in November (PST). Elections are opened for member online voting from December 1st to 20th.
Please email a resume or CV to admin@cnga.org if you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors. You may also fill out the Nomination Form (link below).
